1  License Agreement

The copyright of this software is reserved by Epson Kowa Corporation and
the licensor.This software may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system,
or transmitted in any form, mechanical, photocopying, or otherwise, with
the agreement below.

1. It is forbidden to use, copy, reproduce, hand over or in any 
    other way give information about any of this software's program source 
    not open to the public.
2. Reverse engineering, reverse compiling and reverse assembling of 
    the object code of any of this software not open to the public 
    is prohibited.
3. Regular function or objective is not assumed with respect to the 
    use of this software.
    The user is responsible for the usage of this software.
4. This software is provided with free of charge, and Epson Kowa 
    Corporation shall not be liable to the user or third parties for
    damages, losses, costs, or expenses incurred by purchaser or third
    parties as a result of: accident, misuse, or abuse of this product
    or unauthorized modifications, repairs, or alterations to this 
    product.
5. If this software or the modified product of this software is provided
    to third parties, this agreement is also applied to third parties.

3  Installation Method

It is required that the following packages are installed previous to 
the installation of Image Scan! for Linux.
 - sane v1.0.3 or later 
 - gimp v1.2.0 or later

3-1  Installing a rpm file

Execute the following rpm command to complete the installation.

  # rpm -i iscan-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm

Depending on the distribution, dependency errors may occur. 
Running the following command will suppress dependency checks,
and complete the installation.

  # rpm -i --nodeps iscan-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm

Note that the installation of Image Scan! for Linux from rpm requires 
that sane and gimp have been installed from rpm as well.

3-2  Installing a tar file

Execute the following command to complete the installation.

~# tar -zxvf iscan-1.0.0-src.tar.gz
~# cd iscan-1.0.0
~# ./configure
~# make
~# make install

Note that the installation of Image Scan! for Linux from tar requires 
that sane has been installed from tar as well.


4 Running the Software

At the command prompt, execute the following command to
start Image Scan! for Linux.

  $ iscan 


5. Option

If you wish to use Image Scan! for Linux as the plug-ins of gimp,
execute the following command.

  $ ln -s /usr/bin/iscan ~/.gimp-1.2/plug-ins/

In order to print from directly from Image Scan! for Linux,
Photo Image Print System v1.3.1 or later must be installed.
